Deadlifting the Row

We row every week at the gym. Today is what we call a “threshold row”. Last week was a sprinting row. And the week before that was a 20-minute, aerobic row.

But regardless of the stimulus, movement mechanics should still be sound.

The fault I see most often is when the athlete opens the hip too early. This may seem like a little thing, but as the weightlifting phrase goes, “the power ends when the hips extend.” Extending the hips prematurely turns the row into an inefficient and powerless movement.
