Every time I read something about pregnancy or postpartum, I always do a quick background check on the author. I want to know 1) if the author is a female who’s had a baby before and 2) what their professional background is.
With so many opinions surrounding pregnancy, postpartum, and exercise, I’m always weary of drawing conclusions from an author without experience and education.
Because I don’t check either of these boxes, I wanted to provide a few resources for our athletes who are planning on becoming pregnant, who are pregnant, and who are less than 1-year postpartum — there are a lot of you.
- High-Performance Pregnancy
- Training During Pregnancy & Motherhood: A New Scientific Frontier
- CrossFit Games Athletes Share Their Stories
I should note, however, that these resources are published by CrossFit Inc., a non medical journal. That being acknowledged, I believe these three articles can provide a roadmap of sorts for you.
Additionally, I added the third article (which is more of a documentation of famous crossfit athletes going through postpartum right now) to serve as a source of inspiration — which is perhaps the hardest part of the entire pregnancy journey.
I hope this is helpful.
